Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Roger Lucas, age 67, of Grandville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 21, 2021, and was called home to be with Jesus. To some, he’s just a guy who built a castle. To others, he may be no one at all. To a wife, he made dreams come true and to his five children, he hung the moon. But to everyone who truly knew Roger, they knew that he was someone very special… He could always make the impossible happen. I would have dared you to tell him that it can’t be done, because he’d flat out tell you… you’re wrong. Roger and his legacy will always be remembered, cherished and loved by so many. One of the things that we loved most about Roger was behind that tough facade, watching his face light up when his “dear” Mary walked into the room. He was the true definition of a God-fearing man; a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Roger will be missed by not only me, and maybe you, but he will be missed by so many who will continue to watch all of his dreams come true. He will be missed by an enormous community and so many who have been blessed enough to call him a mentor or friend. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the unexpected loss of his presence here on this earth and celebrate his welcoming into the arms of our Lord. A funeral service celebrating the life of Roger will be at Chapel Pointe Church, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Rev. Joel Wayne officiating, on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Family and friends are invited to meet the family at Chapel Pointe Church on Friday, October 29, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to World Mission. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Lucas; children: Jenny and Mike Kemp, Katy Lucas and fiancé, Austin Groot, Hope and Lincoln Young, Jake Lucas, Steve Lucas; three adorable grandchildren; siblings: Mary Lucas, Marlene and Scott Lehnert, Patsy Lucas, Jessica and Jonah Caijgas, Bill Schnabel, Ben Deihl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Terri Land and Dan Hibma, Sandy and Mark Strandberg, Kathy and John Desser; many wonderful nieces and nephews whom he loved. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Esther Lucas; brother, Stephen Lucas.
