Roger Lee Alderink

Alderink, Roger Lee Roger Alderink, age 74, of Green Lake (Caledonia), formerly of Jenison, ran into the arms of Jesus, whom he loved, on Sunday, June 15 after a courageous and lengthy journey with heart disease.  Many people were touched by Rog’s faith, generosity and humor.  He was an engineer by profession, working for years at Rapistan and then going on to be a partner in a material handling company in St. Louis, MO.  He was President of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association and was also active in several non-profit boards and committees.  He loved his wife, Sandy with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage earlier this year.  He treasured and was proud of his children, Susie (Tim) Hulst, and Rod (Jamie) Alderink;  grandchildren, Ally, Mattie, Zak, Toby, Fletcher, Spencer, and Sofie-Grace, Kyle Boes, and Tay Powell-LaGrone.  Rog also is survived by his brother, Robert (Shirley) Alderink; sisters, Judy (Gary) Kaptein, and Pat (Larry) Koole; sister-in-law, Deb (Doug) Boes; along with several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church located at 1571 Baldwin Street, Jenison, MI 49428 on Tuesday, June 17 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM.  A service of remembrance and celebration will be held at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 18 with Rev. Len Kuyvenhoven and Rev. Nancy Boote officiating.  Interment Hooker Cemetery.   Because of Rog’s passion for Christian education, memorial contributions can be made to South Christian High School, Dutton Christian School, or Calvin Seminary.
