Roger Zoodsma, age 88, of Byron Center, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022. Roger was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren. He loved working at Hayworth for 14 years, and he considered working as fun. Roger enjoyed driving his three classic Mustangs. He took pride in volunteering for First Robotics for 12 years, seven of which they went to state finals, and five of which they went to nationals at Disney and Atlanta. Prior to that, Roger worked at Rowe AMI for 33 years, and enjoyed his juke boxes. Roger was a helpful friend who had a servant’s heart. He loved the simplicity of life and smiled at the little things. Music played an important role in his life, but ultimately he loved the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Zoodsma; parents, John and Minnie Zoodsma; brothers, Ben Zoodsma and Lester Zoodsma. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Janna and Douglas Renkema, Ken and Lisa Zoodsma; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and dear special friend of 21 years, Nancy Deater and her dog, Layla. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2350 44th St. SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Darryl Larson officiating. Burial at Cascade Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Careline Hospice.
