Remembering Roger Jaarsma
Roger Dale Jaarsma, age 72, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Winifred “Sally” Jaarsma; brother, Gary Jaarsma. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Marcia Jaarsma; children, Dawn and TJ Koekkoek, Rod and Michell Jaarsma, Ron and Alisha Jaarsma; grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Jayce, and Kaylin Koekkoek, Alecia (Jake) Fryman, Hunter Jaarsma, Emma Jaarsma; great-grandson, Lukas Fryman; sister-in-law, Beverly Jaarsma; and nieces and nephews. Rog proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He loved the outdoors where he spent time hunting, trapping, cutting wood, feeding the wildlife and gardening. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at North Blendon Reformed Church, 7224 Taylor St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Josh Thurkettle officiating. Interment will be held at Blendon Township Cemetery where military honors will be offered by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
