Roger Gibbs

Roger Paul Gibbs, age 55, of Wyoming, was called home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gibbs. Roger was a kind and loving person with a compassionate heart to serve others. He used his gift of serving others at his job at Feeding America where he worked for many years. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Doris Gibbs; sister, Linda Gibbs; his nieces, Gerri, Wendy, and Tina; 2 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, and 1 great-great nephew. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Woodward Baptist Church, 2160 76^th St. SW, Byron Center, with Pastor Lance Laker officiating. The burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, July 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Woodward Baptist Church.

I'm saddened deeply by this news. Roger and I were good friends from the age 12. He used to summer in East Jordan. We were running together all summer. There are no words to describe Roger's giving and kindness and how this world is short a soul of goodness. Roger was my friend and will be sadly missed. Like all of humankind, Roger had his ups and his downs but through it all his core, his nature, his soul was ALWAYS generous, caring and giving. I am blessed to have called him my friend. He left this world behind better than he found it and for that, I thank him.

There are no words to express how much I loved Roger. He was an extremely kind& compassionate man who always tried to put others before himself. I will miss all the fun times we had& all the laughter. A bright light has gone out here, but I guarantee it is shining in heaven. The world seems darker& colder without him here.
