Obituary
Remembering Roger Dale Simmons
Roger Dale Simmons, age 85, of Wyoming, MI was called to his eternal home on July 12, 2024.
Roger was born in Hopkins, MI and raised in Diamond Springs MI.
He was a devoted employee of Country Fresh Dairy for 39 years where he held many positions. He was blessed with 23 years of retirement. He was an avid bike rider peddling the beautiful roads and trails of West Michigan often collecting cans and bottles along the way. At one point, he had collected enough cans and bottles to fund a trip to Hawaii! He and his wife traveled to Hawaii three times and enjoyed trips throughout the Midwest. They attended countless country & polka band concerts while traveling. Roger worked for many years on the grounds at his condominium helping friends and neighbors. He loved a good pork chop, liver & onions and, of course, Cherry Pie. He also had a unique collection of raccoon knickknacks and pictures.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Simmons. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Arlene (Weidenfeller) Simmons, and his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Renee (VanNorman) Simmons; his sisters Mildred and Gale Loew; and Jolene and Lynn VanOrder; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Corsacare, Aurora Pond and to Faith Hospice for the genuine care Roger received.
The family will greet visitors at 10:00-11:00 on July 17, 2024 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509. Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 with Rev. John Vallier, officiating.
