Rodger (Rod) Dan Williams

Rodger (Rod) Dan Williams, 76, of Jenison, Michigan passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022. He was born March 12, 1946 in Salinas, California to Dan B. and Joyce (Bailey) Williams. Rodger graduated from North Salinas High School with the class of 1964 before starting his career in the telecommunications field. Rodger joined the Pacific Bell/AT&T family in 1968 working out of Salinas before transferring to Grass Valley to continue his career for the next 30+ years. Rodger made many lifelong friends between school and work who he thought very fondly of and stayed in touch with. Rodger was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, and hunting. He particularly loved camping at Eagle Lake in the Lassen National Forest where his family had camped, hunted, and fished for many years. Rodger also enjoyed hunting and fishing in Michigan. In his later years, he spent most of his summers at the Elks Campground on Lake Michigan in Muskegon, with family and his Elk friends. Rodger was very active in The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Fraternity for the past 28 years. He started his service in 1994 in Grass Valley CA, Lodge #538 and recently had served in the Muskegon MI Lodge #274. He enjoyed his fellow Elks and the brotherhood of the Elks Fraternity. Rodger was very proud to be a father and grandfather. This was one of his greatest accomplishments and he was so loved by his boys. He is preceded in death by his parents, father, Dan. B. Williams and mother, Joyce (Bailey) Williams; step-mother, Blanche Williams, all of Salinas, CA; and his sister, Linda (Dusty) Engeldinger of Milpitas, CA. Rodger is survived by his son, Erik C. Williams and his wife Stephanie; two grandsons, Tyler and Connor Williams of Huber Heights, OH; his loving girlfriend of the past 8 years, Sandy Randall of Jenison, MI; along with her family; niece, Katie Engeldinger of Carmichael, CA; nephew, David Engeldinger of Brentwood, CA; several great nieces and nephews, and many close friends. A celebration of life service will be held in the Spring of 2023 in Michigan, location, date and time to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation in Rodger’s name to The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #538 in Grass Valley CA, or Lodge #274 in Muskegon, MI, or doing a good deed in Rod’s name.
