Robert York

YORK - Mr. Robert M. York, aged 93 of Comstock Park, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Scott Hamlin; brothers, Charles and Richard. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Gwen; daughters, Kaylyn (Robert) Hamlin, Susanne York (Phil Hughes); grandchildren, Robyn (John) Churchhill, Kelli (Jeff) Casamento, Brett (Jennifer) Slebodnik; great grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Austin, Dallas and Jasper; sister, Janet Baker. Bob was born in Manchester, NH to Charles and May York. He proudly served his country for 10 years with the US Navy and was a WWII Veteran. Mr. York was a member of the West Michigan Basket Guild and Alpine Baptist Church. Bob retired from A & P as a meat selector, although he is most known for his road side stand on 10 Mile and Pine Island. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr., NE in Belmont, with Pastor Doug Compton officiating. His family will greet relatives and friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the funeral chapel. Interment Greenwood Cemetery in Sparta.
