Robert VanderMolen

Robert Blaine VanderMolen, age 60, most recently of Caledonia passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary VanderMolen; brother, John VanderMolen; sister, Kathy Jordan. He is survived by his sisters, Deb (Gary) Lanenga, Penny (Steve) Murray; recent wife, Joanne VanderMolen; close nephew and fellow Marine, Matt (Jamie) Schmitt. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. He traveled the world with them as well as during his work as a roughneck in the oil industry. He was a Harley enthusiast and started that love with his first bike at the age of 16. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and an honor guard presentation will take place at 11 am on Tuesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #305.

Our life paths took us such different places, so I was gifted in the last decade with 2nd chances: FIRST RIDE EVER ON A HARLEY (doesn't get any closer to flying)! speaking of flight, ride on that vintage aircraft (I skipped breakfast "cause I thought I'd puke but it took off like an eagle on wing) Gillmorecar museum Silversides, adventures in eating (octopus, crayfish, sushi) lectures on politics, aircraft and war. You didn't want "a service", but I had to say goodbye with thanks for the difference you made in my life. Love you, Bob
