Robert Stark, 83, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bob was born in Binghamton, New York, and moved with his family to Lansing, Michigan, as a young teenager. He was a graduate and proud alumni of Michigan State University. He eventually settled in Grand Rapids where he had a long and successful career with Calder Financial Advisors. During his life Bob was very active in Rotary of Grand Rapids and mentored high school students to make sure they graduated and went on to higher education. He served as President and board member of Feeding America of West Michigan for many years and was proud to have seen it grow and move into new facilities. He mentored African young gentlemen through Bethany Christian Services as they began a new life here in Michigan. Often taking them grocery shopping and helping them to find a place to live. He also served on the board of Servants Center of Grand Rapids, caring about the homeless and mentally challenged. After he retired, Bob enjoyed serving for several years on the board of his condo association.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Thom. Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years, Alyce; daughters, Kristen (Andrew) Astley of Cohasset, MA, Kathryn (Jason) Zbanek of Bloomfield Twp, MI; stepchildren, Greg (Stacey) Noorman and Sarah (Scott) Farney, all of Grandville, MI; grandchildren, Ben, Maggie and Charlotte Astley, Jack and Madeline Zbanek; step-grandchildren, Bradley (Chelsea) Noorman, Jacob (Kaylee) Noorman and David Noorman, Garrett (Kenzie) Farney, Owen Farney and Caleb (Lauryn) Farney; and four precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Joel (Kate) of Rhode Island, Jim of Fennville, MI; and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Feeding America of West Michigan or to the Servants Center of Grand Rapids.
