Robert Sjoerdsma

Robert “Bob” A. Sjoerdsma, age 79, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Bob served in the Navy on the USS Chipola during the Vietnam War. During his working career, he worked at Grand Rapids Public Schools in the custodial department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; parents, Sam and Gertrude Sjoerdsma; brother, Art Sjoerdsma; and sister Pat Naber. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Dave and Harmina “Mike” Sjoerdsma; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hennie Sjoerdsma, Larry and Karen Naber, Erwin and Nancy Naber, Allen and Gloria Naber; and many well-loved nieces and nephews. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Standale Reformed Church, 202 Cummings Ave NW. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-2:45 p.m. prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Edison Christian Health Center.
