Robert Rodney Johnston

Robert Rodney Johnston, age 80, of Kentwood, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Adela Johnston. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Cindy; children, Sherry and Mike Millard, Kerry and Dennis Huver, Rob and Shannon Johnston, Melissa and Austin McKay, Matt and Mindy Johnston, Kristi Johnston and fiancé, Michael Holton; grandchildren, Austin Millard, Lauren and Blake Burgess, Nick Tummons, Emma Millard, Lily Huver, Josie Huver, Rylee Johnston, Noah Johnston, Maddyn Johnston, Jacob Johnston, Miles McKay, Quinn McKay, Cannen Johnston; great granddaughter, Olivia Burgess; sister, Judi (Johnston) and Scott Simon; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Bob graduated from Michigan State University and was the owner of an insurance agency, Design Underwriters. He was an avid golfer having played on the Sturgis High School golf team and on the MSU golf team. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and serving in the church. Loving warm weather, Bob also enjoyed vacationing in Florida. One of his greatest joys came from supporting his children and grandchildren at their various sporting and school events. He will be deeply missed by all. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, July 27 at Grace Lutheran Church, 150-50th St. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Zachary Marklevitz officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 7-9 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Music Ministry of Grace Lutheran Church.
