READ - Robert "Bob" James Read, age 68, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 8, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gertrude Read; brother, David Read; sister, Mary Lou Read. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathie Read; children, William "Bill" (Jeane) Read, Kevin ( Beth) Read, Laura (Nick) Runnals; grandchildren, Marissa, Arabella, Matthew, Anna, Levi, Henry, Paul, Nicholas, Nellie, Pearl; beloved pets, Teddy and Penny. Bob was a family man who enjoyed camping and loved boats, engines, tractors, and crafting. He was a "Jack of all trades" including mechanics, construction, and maintenance. Bob proudly served in the United States Army in Germany. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 13 at New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Ave. NE, Grand Rapids. The family will greet relatives and friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
