Robert Ondersma

Robert E. Ondersma, age 65, of Kentwood, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2017 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Lovingly by his side was his wife of 46 years, Pat; children, Dawn and Doug Emaus, Bob Jr. and Jessica Ondersma; precious grandchildren, Breanna, Kylie and Colton. He was a 30 year employee at Steelcase where he made many lifelong friends. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and ice fishing with his son. He was an amazing handyman who could fix anything and loved helping others with their projects. Bob loved spending Saturday afternoons at the park with his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. He also loved to take his beloved canine companion, Rocko, for walks. Bob will also be dearly missed by his brother, Frank and Cheryl Ondersma; sister, Kate Burd; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Ondersma; brother-in-law, Greg Burd; nephew, Greg Burd, Jr. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood) 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. with Pastor Wayne Ondersma officiating. Interment Dutton Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home.
