Robert Eugene DeLaney

Robert Eugene DeLaney, age 52, of Big Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Robert was born on April 8, 1969, in Grand Rapids, the son of Charles DeLaney and Roberta (Rahn) DeLaney.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy from August 1987 through August 1991.  He worked at Wolverine Worldwide for 15 years.

On October 10, 2010, he married Susan Cole, who survives.  Also surviving are his father, Charles (Jan) DeLaney; 1 son, Brandon Heavner; 2 stepsons, Brandon Eckert and Josh (Sasheen) Eckert; 3 brothers, Chuck DeLaney, Rob (Shavonne) Vandermaas and James (Shari) Vandermaas; 4 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Browny.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta, in 2018.

Robert will always be remembered for his love of his wife, their grandchildren and family.  His smile, jokes and pranks will be missed by many. He had a huge heart and always made himself available to help family and friends in their time of need.

A Memorial Luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Stanwood Eagles Club, located at 7230 Stanwood Dr. Stanwood, MI 49346 from 1-3 pm.
