Robert Edwin Carlton

Robert E Carlton, age 88 , of Wyoming went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Afterward he worked diligently at Kirkhoff transformers for many years. Robert loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an avid Detroit sports fan and would tune into the Lions and Tigers games whenever he could, whether it be through the television or over the radio. Above all else though, Robert loved his family and would enjoy spending time with them. He was a father figure even to his nephews and nieces and the rest of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Carlton; Siblings, Glen Carlton, Fred Carlton, Betty Koning; and several siblings-in-law. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth; children Barb (Steve) Hale, Robert S (Karen) Carlton, Stephanie (John) Schlickman; grandchildren, Anthony Carlton, Marilyn Carlton, Kelsee Carlton, Chad Hale; his great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. The family would like to thank Trillium woods and Breton Woods for all their tender, loving care throughout these past couple years. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 am at Apostolic Faith Church at 1935 44th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI, 49508 with Elder Dorian Richardson officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming and an hour prior to the service on Monday from 10-11 am at Apostolic Faith Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Apostolic Faith Church.
