Robert E. Gard

Robert E. Gard, age 92, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents, Vern and Iva Gard; three brothers and one sister. He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Linda and Steve Bryant, Lorna and Dave Helder, and Heather and Bob Brown, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara and Ed Schmieding; and many nieces and nephews. Bob proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater . Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

we were so blessed to grow up w/Dads who loved a good joke.They all loved a good joke & passed that sense of humor to all of us- I'm sure Grandpa had a lot to do w/that.You know what I mean. I like to think that the 4 brothers are together again and hopefully when it's our time to go we'll see them again. Love to all of your family.
