Robert Dale Bartels

Robert D. Bartels, age 71, of Jenison, formerly of Wyoming, passed away at his home on Monday, November 8, 2021, and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. Bob was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who was blessed with a kind and gentle spirit and cherished his family. He proudly served his country in the National Guard for several years. Bob worked as an avionics technician for most of his career, retiring from Beacon Aviation. In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed traveling, reading, puzzles, and most of all, his H & O train collection. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucille Bartels and his infant daughter, Bethany. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Janice (Piebenga); children, Joel and Amanda Bartels, Joy and Steve Veldkamp, David and Beth Bartels; grandchildren, Addie, Evie, Isaac, Levi, and Landen; siblings, Betty and Bob Gaunt, Kay and Tom Judy, MaryJo (Marty-deceased) Geertsema, Larry and Betty Bartels; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Carol Piebenga, Marie (Gord-deceased) Piebenga; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, November 22, from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 2 pm at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave, Wyoming, with Rev. Eric Van Der Molen officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Pregnancy Resource Center or to Bethany United Reformed Church Building Fund.
