Robert Carter

CARTER-Robert Akira Carter, age 23, of Novi passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014. Robert is survived by his parents, James and Melody Carter; brothers, Jeffrey Kaii (Harley Binner) Carter, Steven Sato Carter and Casey (Jessica) Novak; his grand parents, Marilyn and Robert Carter and Kiyoko Dekker; aunts and uncles, Debbie (and Gary) Foor, Dale (and Diane) Carter, Laura (and David) Holden, Tony (and Patty) Dekker, Kiyoi (and James) Craig, Dan (and Brenda) Dekker, John Dekker, Tina Dekker. Robert was preceded in death by his grandfather, Norman Dekker. Rob studied electronics in high school and did well, but then he found that he loved to cook and changed course. He loved to cook for you. Fencing was another skill Robert loved to practice, as well as creating ceramic art pieces. Most of all, Rob was a rock and mineral enthusiast and had a keen interest in Geology. He could tell you the name of every Gem and Mineral in the Rock show he attended every year. He loved Tourmaline, having mined it himself on one of his excursions. He loved the natural world. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Stegenga Funeral chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. Robert's family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
