Robert Bruner

Robert L. Bruner, age 96, of Walker, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 7, 2021. Bob was a wonderful Christian father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of God, and gifted in many ways. He raised himself beginning at the age of 14, because of the death of his parents. Bob worked on dairy farms, delivered milk, proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant with the Signal Corp, completed his education through GED, was a supervisor for the township, City Commissioner and Mayor of Walker City. He was also the owner of West Side Auto in Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ruth; sister, Helen Booth; and brother, James Jeltema. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Linda and Rev. Lee Ausema, Susan and Douglas Keegstra, Robert and Donna Bruner, Karen and John Moran; seven grandchildren, Kerri and Jerry Loranger, Emily Ausema and John McCartney, Jodi Keegstra, Brent and Anne Keegstra, Elizabeth Ausema and Jordan Nelson, Nicholas Bruner, Alyson Moran; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Chuck and Shirley Jeltema, Ken Jeltema, Dave and Sally Jeltema, Marjorie Faber; sister-in-law, Marge Jeltema Bolthuis; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Bruce Huseby officiating. Burial Greenwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home, and also an hour prior to the service on Thursday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Bethany Christian Services or Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.

I used to love to go to the auto body shop and see Uncle Bob when I was younger. He and Aunt Ruth used to visit me at Younkers dept store when I worked there. Super sweet guy. Plus many holiday memories. RIP Uncle Bob.
