Robert Lee Brinks, age 92, of Jenison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, and is now with his Lord and Savior. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, but he was a very humble man. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was a hard worker and retired after many years from Sterk Bros. Redi-Mix. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; daughter, Wanda Brinks; son-in-law, Roger Ponstein; siblings: Ruth (Ray) Modders, Harold (Dorothy) Brinks, Mae (Ray) Dykstra, Lois (Garry) Zuiderveen; and sister-in-law, Sharon Brinks. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Cindy and Jim Plooster, Cathy and Dale Elders, Doug and Jeanne Brinks; grandchildren: Matt and Magdalyn Ponstein, Kelli and James Gilmore, Jennie and Austin Sale, Mark and Riley Elders, Katie Elders, Nick and Erin Elders, Alex Elders, Erica and Corey Dymond, Brittany and Brad Disselkoen; great-grandchildren: Owen, Hazel, Arie, Tristan, Jade, Maia, Ezra, Raelynn, Wesley, Reuben, Caden, and one on the way; brother, Ivan Brinks; sisters-in-law, Janice Vos, Isla Volkers; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Dr., Jenison with Rev. Matthew Palsrok officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday, November 29, from 5-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Emmanuel Hospice. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Rose Garden for their loving care of Robert.
