Robert Boomstra

Robert Earl Boomstra, age 90, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 60 years, Laura; son, Bruce Boomstra; grandson, Evan Boomstra; and brother, Gerald Boomstra. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 7 years, Marcia; children, David and Terri Boomstra, Felicia Boomstra, Vona and Mark Matus, Larry and Jane Boomstra; daughter-in-law, Kathy Boomstra; Lynn and Jodi Plaggemars, Brian and Chandra Plaggemars, Jason Plaggemars; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nora Boomstra; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Bob was a proud member of the Roving Wolverines Motorhome Club and the Freemasons. He retired from Steelcase and then became the founder of Midwest Food Equipment in 1970 which is now celebrating 52 years of success. In his retirement, he enjoyed “playing with cars” and restoring them. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Reformed Church, 2795 Rosewood St., Jenison, with Rev. Howard Moths officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
