Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
In memory of our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert “Bobby” Lee Ryke, who was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 30, 2025, and was reunited at last with his beloved wife, Sandy. Free from pain, he now rests in peace, dancing joyfully with his wife once again. Bobby was born February 28, 1947, to the late Arthur and Josephine Ryke and was married to Sandra Kay (Jannereth) Ryke on March 18, 1966, celebrating 55 years of love and devotion together. Bobby joins his brother, Tommy, and their parents in heaven. Bobby lived a rich life with simple pleasures including trips out to the shore with a fishing pole in hand, laughter-filled days with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, or letting his song rise beautifully into the world around him. He had a gift for making doughnuts that brought smiles to every table and treasured every chance to savor his favorite pastries. He could also light up a room the moment he walked in, his laughter spreading to everyone around him. The stories and memories we carry will forever remain in our hearts. Music was woven into the fabric of Bobby’s soul. He was an exceptional singer whose voice resonated with everyone around him. He was blessed with a God-given ability to play any song by ear on whatever instrument he chose. Because of his strong faith and love for God, we KNOW he will be watching down on us all, continuing to sing, beside his Savior, Jesus. Bobby’s greatest devotion was to his family. He is survived by his children, Shelly (Ryke) and Lee Morgan, Rachel (Ryke) and Craig Popma, Amanda (Ryke) and Jacob Cole, Robert and Erin (McCullough) Ryke, and Harmony Ryke; as well as 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherish the memories they shared with him; sister, Delores “DeeDee” (Ryke) and Bob Highland; and many nieces and nephews. We rest in comfort knowing Bobby is now embraced by the eternal love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. As scripture reminds us: "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him." —1 Corinthians 2:9. Though he may no longer walk beside us, Bobby’s legacy of kindness, laughter, song, and love will echo in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His presence shaped us, and his memory will continue to guide us. Until we meet again, we’ll miss you more than words can say. Hold Gram close for us. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, at St. James Lutheran Church, 2040 Oakwood Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Dr. Glenn Schaeffer officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
