Robert Avink

Robert “Bob” Avink, age 90, of Grandville, passed away peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Grandville Historical Commission, helped write “Bend in the River”, and was a member of many other genealogical societies in West Michigan. Bob was a lifetime member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids which later merged with Roosevelt Park Christian Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his six siblings and their spouses. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Marian Avink; son, Mark and Amy Avink; grandchildren, Kendra Avink and her fiancé, Scott VanDyke, Tyler and Katie Avink; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Delores and Jerry Avink; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Dale Fopma officiating. The service will be live streamed via the funeral home website and can be viewed by clicking on the live streams and recordings tab. The burial will take place at Blendon Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 7, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hope Christian Reformed Church.
