Richard Wayne Nykamp

Richard Wayne Nykamp, age 70, of Grandville, passed away unexpectedly in Florida on Friday, February 11, 2022, and went to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Grethel Nykamp, and his son, Timothy. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 12 years, Deborah Nykamp; children, Cindy (Nykamp) and Steve Sieggreen, Tami (Nykamp) and Shawn Buckland, Carissa (Nykamp) Dekker and fiancé Matt Bruischat, Nikki (Nykamp) and Josh Thornton; stepchildren, Lauren and Joe Dallas, Erin and Ky Schultz; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Linda and Den Van Rhee, Sheryl and Gary Quinn; many nieces and nephews. Rick was a graduate of Holland High School (1969) and Western Michigan University. He was a dedicated father and loved attending his kids’ sporting events, band concerts and dance recitals. He was an excellent cook, very handy around the house and a successful business owner. Rick will be remembered for his love of family, friends, adventuring, boating, traveling and of course, Michigan Football. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Monday, February 21, 2022, for visitation, from 4 to 7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville). There will be a private family burial at Pilgrim Home Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to make memorial contributions do so in Rick’s name to one of his favorite charities; Children's Advocacy Center of Kent County, God's Kitchen, or Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

To the Nykamp family, I can appreciate the sorrow you must be feeling at this time. Rick was a wonderful person and the I know he will be missed by many, but especially by you. Rick, we shared so many good times during the past 50+ years. Roommates at Western for 3 years, boating, traveling and every once and awhile some bourbon. You will be missed Rick.
