Richard Peter Zietse

Richard Peter Zietse is praising God in Heaven today. Dick passed away on Monday morning, April 10, 2023. He left the arms of his loving wife, Evelyn, and was welcomed into the loving arms of his precious Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in 1937 to Peter and Alice Zietse in Rochester, NY, Dick lived most of his life in the Grand Rapids area, most recently in Hudsonville. He loved to work and spent his career at Kelvinator, Lear Siegler, Smith Industries, and Johnson Controls. He also loved time away from work, playing cribbage, eating a pot of spaghetti, gardening, and pruning roses. An avid reader, he read for pleasure as well as for the deepening of his knowledge of God and His creation. He found great joy watching his children participate in sports, and even more in cheering on his grandchildren in athletics, theater, and music. In retirement, he was a mentor for Kids Hope and volunteered with Evelyn at Love Your Neighbor. An avid runner for much of his life, we can confidently say that Richard “ran the race” well. Dick is survived by Evelyn, his wife of almost 65 years, children Mark and Pam Zietse (Nate & Catherine, Nora & Josh Laarman), Mike and Martha Zietse (Kristi, Molly & Joe Schierbeek), Tim and Tami Zietse (Joshua, Luke, and Cara), Mary and Mike Stout (Matthew & Samantha, Martin Stout & Krystal Brown) and three great grandchildren: Evelynne, Willow, and Micah; sister, Janet Hondred; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Eikelberg.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, April 16 at 3:00 at Fairway Christian Reformed Church, 1165 - 44th Street, Jenison MI 49428. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 to 3:00.
