Richard Lee Buikema

Rick Buikema, age 66, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 9, 2015 and went to be with his Lord. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Bev; their children, Rob and Tamara Buikema, Lisa and Justin Johnson, Angie and Greg Bush, Hau and Duyen Bui, Thuy and Long Nguyen; grandchildren, Allie, Riley, Taylor, Grace, Tristan, Madison, Zachary, Zoe, Corey, Alex, Tiffany, Christine, Emily; father, Don Buikema; brother Ron and Nancy Buikema; sister, Sandy and Duane Holstege; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol Vryhof, Marti and Don Oosterbroek; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Buikema; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Abe and Betty Lemmink; brother-in-law, Bill Vryhof. Funeral services will be held on Monday 11:00 am at Orchard Hill Reformed Church, 1465 Three Mile Rd NW, Grand Rapids with Pastor Kathy Bartels and Pastor Bob Karel officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Orchard Hill Reformed Church Arts Camp or Kids Hope.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,

which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day,

and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.

Bev, Lisa, Angie and family we were so sorry for your loss. We will always remember Rick's helping hand at Brook Cherith Camp. He was also a great support to me when we served on the board together. Just thinking of Rick brings back so many happy memories. May God watch over you and care for you in the days to come.

We are shocked and saddened by this news. It has been far too long since I have seen any of you. This has brought up so many memories of the good times we all had in Ludington so many years ago.
