Richard Kirvan,

KIRVAN - Rev. Richard E. Kirvan Sr, aged 76, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, May 9, 2011. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Alyce (Baines); his children: Nancy (Kirvan) and Rev. James Reamsma, Richard, Jr. and Laura Kirvan, Kenneth and Diane Kirvan, Janet (Kirvan) and Jeffrey Mortz all of Grand Rapids, David and Pamela Kirvan of Fort Wayne, IN; 15 grandchildren and their spouses and 7 great grandchildren; siblings: Ruth (Kirvan) Tudor of Florida, Linda (Carlson) and Pat Virkstis of Grand Rapids, Thomas and Yvonne Kirvan of Maine; two brothers-in-law, Larry and Marilyn Baines of Oregon and John Baines of Grand Rapids; nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents: Walter and Modelle Kirvan, and Otto and Mary Carlson. Dick was a retired minister with a heart to see lost souls saved. He spent many years in the business world as an insurance agent, before starting his own medical supply company, later using his compassion for others to become a nursing home administrator. He graduated from Godwin High School, Davenport University, Great Lakes Bible College, and received his N.H.A. from Michigan State University. Dick served his country in the U.S. Army 663 Ord. Co. as a munitions truck driver in Germany. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His passing is but a momentary loss to us left behind, and a celebration of eternal reward for him and those who will join him in heaven. A memorial service and luncheon will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodview Christian Church, 3785 Woodview Ave SW, Wyoming, MI.
