Richard Hawley

Richard Allen Hawley, age 84, of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Diane (Fred) Baker, Gayle (Mike) Ruler, Sandra Gerber; son, John (Ruth) Hawley; grandchildren, Joe Ruler, Jesse (Emilee) Ruler, Jason (Hillary) Baker, Eric (Tamara) Baker, Rick Hawley, Erin Hawley; four great grandchildren; aunt, Alice Babcock. Richard valiantly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Richard was a hard working, quiet, gentle man who loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to cook and eat, especially desserts! The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 6, 11:30 AM at St. Dominic Church, 50 Bellevue St. SW, Wyoming with Fr. Phil Shangraw, celebrant. Inurnment in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dominic’s Church.

For all Dick's family, I offer my condolences and express my sadness that I never had the opportunity to know him in adult life. Perhaps that was more my fault than anyone else's. Nonetheless, it always creates a hole when a family loses one of its oldest members. Art Spalding, cousin

Sandy, it was a real pleasure to meet your father and visit with him at Samritas regularly the past two years. He was a true gentle man, and actually cared more about hearing about me and my life than sharing his own, but that was his way. His room mate said he died peacefully and alone as he preferred it. Richard and I shared many prayers together and I can assure you he was in good stead with his Lord and Savior. Amen.
