Remembering Richard G. Jones Sr.
Richard G. Jones Sr., aged 90 of Grand Rapids, went peacefully to his heavenly home to be with his wife, Margaret on Sunday, March 24, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jay Allen Jones; brother, JC Jones. He is survived by his children: Katherine Jones, Patricia (Clarence) Slaughter, Alta (Rich) Gordon, Mickey Jones, Richard (Teresa) Jones Jr., Claudia (John) Russell, Edward (Carey) Jones, Becky Jones, Bobbi (Don) Vandentop, Evelyn Hall; 38 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brothers: Lowell (Sharon) Jones, Ed (Evelyn) Newton; sister, Myrna Frazine. In his early married life, Richard built homes to accommodate his growing family and later took up farming in Lowell to provide for them. He retired after 35 years from the RM&E Dept. of C&O Railroad (CSX). A funeral service for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Patrick Grile officiating. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
