Richard Fales

Richard Fales, age 97, of Wyoming was reunited with his wife, Ruth on Monday, October 14, 2024. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army towards the end of World War Two. He worked for GM for many years until his retirement. Richard was considered a genius by his family when it came to building houses and wrenching on engines, a skill that he acquired over many years and through many of his dear friends that were a part of his life. This was great for Richard because he always loved having a project to work on whether it was as small as a lawn mower engine, or as big as a cabin up north. He also loved being outdoors and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Richard will be remembered for his dedication to his family and that he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ruth; siblings, Lester (Margaret) Fales, Nellie (Art) Carpenter, Bertha (Kenneth) Greenman, Clarence E. Fales, Agnes (Karl) Raiser, and Clarence W. (Luella) Fales. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lyle (Penny) Fales, Steve (Lisa) Fales, Robin (Jeff) DeYoung; grandchildren, Jacob Fales, Bradley (Sally) Fales, Holly Specht, Samantha (Will) Willis, Justin (Lauren) Fales, Cole (Michelle) Fales, Josh (Beth) DeYoung, Andrew DeYoung; great-grandchildren, Kallie Fales, Karsten Fales, Ruby Fales, Liam DeYoung; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.  Burial will be held at Floral View Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
