Richard Eugene Van Slyke

VanSlyke – Richard Eugene VanSlyke, aged 70, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marilyn VanSlyke; son, Eric VanSlyke. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Gloria Vanslyke; children, Mark VanSlyke, Kristie (Wayne) Taylor, Kimberly (Renato) Carter; grandchildren, Autin Taylor, Brett Taylor, Aniyah Shane-Carter; sister, Sharon Male. Richard loved racing and enjoyed watching his son race and grandchildren play football at Comstock Park Highschool. He will be remembered for saying, “If I can’t fix it, it isn’t broken.” In retirement, Richard opened his own welding and small engine repair shop known as Summit Welding. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a future date.
