Richard Alan Layle

Richard Alan Layle, age 76, of Grandville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on August 6, 2021, from 4 – 8 pm at Douglas Walker Park, 1195 84th St SW, Byron Center, MI. Please bring your favorite memory of Rick to share. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Layle; children: Chris (Missy) Layle, Kerry (Todd) Coleman, Hilary Taber, Ryan (Tina) Layle; grandchildren: Tyler (Kayla) Layle, Kelsey (Cameron) Hufford, Sr. Airman Kaeley (Christian) Sholder, Ryan Taber, Evan Taber and special buddy, Boston Layle; sisters: Linda (Dave) Lester, Barb (Ron) Myers; brothers: Tom (Donna) Layle, Tim (Shirley) Layle; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian Layle. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 35 years from Steelcase, and later enjoyed his no-stress jobs at Studio 28 and Vans Floral. He was a supportive husband, devoted father and grandfather, and served as a role model and mentor for many. He also enjoyed hobbies such as Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and woodworking.
