Rev. Neal Punt, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the age of 87. Neal was born November 29, 1928 in Grand Rapids. He was the youngest of 10 children. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Gary Punt; seven sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Ann (DeYoung) Punt; his children, Jan (Bill) Buikema, Jim (Gail) Punt, Beth (Dave) Huisenga, Gordon (Meg) Punt, Laura (Mike) Stoub; daughter-in-law, Sue Punt; 13 grandchildren; one great grandson. He graduated from Calvin College, Calvin Theological Seminary and did graduate work at Westminster Theological Seminary. He was a minister in the Christian Reformed Church and served on many committees for the denomination. He served at Atwood, Eastmanville and Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Churches in Michigan and at Evergreen Park Christian Reformed Church in Illinois. In addition to being a minister, he was an author and an inventor. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and sailing; he kept his sense of humor until the end. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 am at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave. SE, Grand Rapids with Rev. Ruth Boven and Rev. Peter Jonker officiating. Interment Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Holland.

What a great pastor, father, inventor and farmer - EP's last farmer growing bumper crops of corn in his backyard. He was an institution at Evergreen Park CRC and a kind, Christian man.

Rev. Punt was my pastor from the time I was born til we moved away from Evergreen Park when I was 9. Such an amazing Man of God! I treasure my wonderful childhood memories being part of his congregation! Sending condolences from all my family & Praying for you all.
