Rev. Kenneth Havert

Rev. Kenneth Leon Havert, age 89, was surrounded by his family as he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Ken was a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church for almost 60 years. Together with his wife, they served seven churches across the country, including three local churches: Messiah CRC in Hudsonville, Faith Community CRC in Wyoming, and Grace CRC in Muskegon. Ken was a faithful husband, fun and loving father and grandfather, and a special friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Leanne (Ben) Harkema, Kevin (Shaun) Havert; grandchildren, Meghan (Nate) DeKoster, Mindi (Jamie) Prins, Merissa, and Matthew (Alexa) Harkema, Nathan, Sara (fiancé, Mason Kuipers), and Olivia Havert; great-grandchildren, Madison, Lance, and Graham DeKoster, Jovie, Esther, and Max Prins, and Divya Harkema; sister, Betty and Elmer Van Hall; sister-in-law, Mary Boogaard; nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 5250 Byron Center SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Roger Groenboom officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, August 8, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
