Renee Spangler

July 7, 2025

Our beloved daughter, Renee Irene Spangler, age 3, went to be with Jesus on July 7, 2025. Though her time with us was heartbreakingly brief, we find solace in knowing that her loving Creator perfectly numbered her precious days. The joy she brought to our family was of immeasurable value and she will always be remembered.

Renee had a bright and empathetic spirit. Her radiant smile was set under blue eyes and framed by beautiful blond curls. From a young age, she showed a gentle attentiveness for her siblings and baby dolls. She instinctively offered comfort to those around her with surprising maturity and tenderness. When her younger sister, Greta, was born, she attentively watched over her, eager to meet her needs and often soothing her with a song. Renee had a remarkable ear for music and was often heard singing to herself as she played. Her voice was as sweet as can be, and the times we spent singing with her remain among our most cherished memories. When she ran, her bounding, purposeful strides reflected the enthusiasm she brought to every moment. She was always eager to join in and grateful to be part of whatever the family was doing. She loved her siblings dearly and had a unique connection with each child. Her strong personality and expressive face kept us laughing and marveling at her vibrant spirit. Though our hearts ache that we won’t see her God-given gifts grow, we strive forward to live out what God taught us through her. We hold tightly to the love she shared with us in her short, but radiant life.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Karen Fowell, Uncle Lyle Spangler, paternal great-grandparents, F. Paul Fowell and Nancy (Knause) Fowell, Arthur and Frances (Montague) Spangler; and maternal great-grandparents, Jeanne Mohler and Calvin Gray.

She is survived by her loving parents, Nathan and Elizabeth “Bea” (Foley) Spangler; her adoring siblings, Nellie, Uriah, Simon, and Greta; and many extended family members who cherish her deeply. These include her maternal grandparents, Edward and Colleen (Gray) Foley; Uncle Joshua and Aunt Nicole (Maks) Foley; Aunt Maria (Foley) and Uncle Andrew Christenberry; and cousin, Aubrielle. She is also survived by her paternal grandfather, Gale Spangler; step-grandfather, James Lane; Aunt Allison (Spangler) Ewing and cousins Ayden and Austin; Uncle Taylor and Aunt JC (Han) Spangler and cousin Kiera; Uncle Neal and Aunt Jocelyn (Storer) Spangler and cousins Elia and Josie; and Aunt Abigail Spangler. Additionally, she is survived by her maternal great-grandparents, Edward F. Foley and Gloria (Anderson) Gray.

Renee’s life was a reflection of God’s grace and the purity of life. We rejoice that she now dwells in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, who came to earth as a baby, lived a perfect life and willingly laid down His life so that we may live. We grieve with hope, knowing that her joy is complete in Christ, and we look forward to the day we are reunited.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14

Nathan and Bea, I know that words are woefully deficient at this time. But know that my heart is breaking for you, I've shed some tears for you. I'm so sad for your loss.

Psalm 23:1-6 [1] The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. [3] He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. [4] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. The community at Woodridge community church are praying for your family.

Dearest Bea, I don't have the right words - I just want you to know how deeply sorry I am for the loss of Renee. I'm sure she brought so much light in the short time she was here and will never be forgotten. Please know that you're in my heart and thoughts constantly. If there's anything - truly anything - I can do to help carry even a tiny piece of this burden with you, put it in my ruck and I got it for you, I am here. With all my love and deepest sympathy, Theresa
