Remona “Monie” Harmsen

Remona “Monie” (Miller) Harmsen, age 84, of Burnips, was called home to Heaven on Saturday, October 10, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Harmsen, Sr.; her daughter, Brenda Harmsen; grandsons, Richard Kleeves and Jerrod Young. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Fred Harmsen of Dorr, Kathy and Alvin Heslinga of Hudsonville, Chris Harmsen of Zeeland, Carol and Jerry Young of Allegan, John Harmsen, Jr. (Cheryl Taylor) of Hamilton, William and Kim Harmsen of Hopkins; grandchildren, Eric Harmsen, Tammi Heslinga, Steve and Marcy Heslinga, Tracy and Joe Knoll, Josh and Jen Young, Jenna Applebach, Leah Applebach, John Harmsen, Wyatt Harmsen; great grandchildren, Grace, Liam, Austin, Madison, Jamie; brothers, Eugene “Bob” Miller, Dan Miller both of Byron Center; sisters-in-law, Effie Warner of Big Rapids, Joann Harmsen of Hopkins; brother-in-law, William Harmsen of WA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday 11 am at St. Mary’s Visitation, 2459 146^th Ave., Byron Center. Interment Salem Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday from 10-11 am prior to the service at church. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Providence Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Providence Nursing Home of Zeeland, MI and Holland Hospice for all the love and care given to Remona over the past two years.
