Rebecca Ann Hess

Rebecca Ann “Becky” Hess, age 74, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 26, 2022. Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Dierking Hess in 1980, her father A. Clair Hess in 2019, and her stepmother, Frances Schum Hess in 2020. Becky was born on July 19, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. Becky’s family also lived in Wisconsin, Missouri, and California before settling in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the late 1950s. After high school, she received training to be a nurse’s aide and enjoyed working in elder care facilities. Later, she took a job at Radio Bible Class (now Our Daily Bread Ministries) and served there for several decades. Becky had a beautiful soprano voice and a great love for music. As a young woman, she was often asked to provide special music as a soloist and loved to sing duets with her dad. She also took great pride in her responsibilities when she served as the Calvary Church choir librarian, while also singing in the choir. People often commented on Becky’s pretty smile, infectious laugh, and cheery personality. She took great delight in her pets; especially Puffie and Maggie Mae. Rebecca was a caring and giving person and she continued that generous spirit in death through the gift of organ and tissue donation. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters: Kathy Kunkle (Chuck) and Cindy Kasper (Tom); several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and other dear family members.
