Raymond Scott Garcia, age 49, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Santos & Natividad Alvarez, his uncle, Joe Alvarez, his niece and nephew, Monica and Anthony Jenkins. He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Adam Scott and Andrew Christian; his grandchildren, Riley, Adam, Jr., Silas, Olive, and Ezra; his mother Ester Garcia; two sisters, Victoria and Amelia Uriegas, one brother, Jose Uriegas; several aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Scotty was a loving, big-hearted man who had numerous friends and would do anything for anyone who asked. He especially loved his children and grandchildren and spent numerous hours with them. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson V Rod with the Cycle Tramps Club. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, with Fr. Peter Vu presiding. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, with a vigil service at 7:30 pm, at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE and on Friday from 10-11 am at church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
