Remembering Randall Regnerus

Randall Scott Regnerus, age 64, of Hudsonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Randy was an electrician for many years and was a hard worker who loved to stay busy even taking up baking as a hobby. Randy also loved being outdoors, whether it was gardening around the house or fishing, he just loved to spend time out in God’s creation. What Randy loved most though was people and spending time with friends either playing cards or hanging out with his grandkids whenever he could. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the gift of gab which gained him many friends over the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sammuel Regnerus; brother, Daniel Regnerus; granddaughter, Emma De Ruiter; brothers-in-law, Dave Sterk, Kevin Geerligs; and his beloved sidekick, Haus. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Amy Regnerus; children, Jeremy and Alyson Regnerus, Jamie and Ross De Ruiter; grandchildren Noah and Alaina; mother, Alyce Regnerus; siblings, Rob and Sue Regnerus, Doug and Sharon Regnerus, Kevin and Amanda Regnerus, Lisa and Doug Lubbers; siblings-in-law, Jerry and Sally King, Lois Sterk, Gord and Pam King, Barb Geerligs; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Zachtjes aan (take it easy) until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at South Harbor Church, 1907 64th St. SW, Byron Center, with Pastor Tim Wilson officiating. The burial will take place at Blendon Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 15, from 4-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Randy was like a second brother to me. I have a lot of very fun memories of him with the kids growing up. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. Many prayers go out to Amy Regnerus and the rest of the family.

The best tribute I can pay Randy is this: he was harmless. I can't recall one bad incident in all the years I knew him, and it would be easy to compile a list of good things to say about the man. Despite all of his physical ailments (and there were a lot), he stayed upbeat, never complained, and never said "no" whenever I asked for his help. He will be missed. So here's a toast to you, Randy Regnerus. It was good to know you in this lifetime! ~Your good friend, Ken

Randy was like a second brother to me that I did not have. I have a lot of fun memories of him. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing, I’m sure Sam and Dan will be happy to see him. Many prayers out to Amy and the rest of his family.

I knew Randy way back when we went to church together at Messiah CRC and then really didn't see much of him for a long time until he came to work at DeWent redi mix, where we worked together for a while. Since then we would see each other once in a while at happy hour or Mr Burger for breakfast. Never needed to worry about not having much to say because Randy always did. He could definitely carry a conversation. One thing I noticed about his conversations after he was diagnosed with cancer, he would talk about his faith in Christ and how he was at peace with whatever the outcome would be. He was a good guy and will be missed. RIP Randy

At a loss for words, I met Randy thru a neighbor who became a friend and Randy became a friend, we went fishing a week ago and all we did was talk, we just clicked, we could always relate to each other, still don’t have enough words just thoughts and memories, thank you Randy for being my friend. Till we meet again, buddy in the presence of our savior Jesus Christ
