My sympathies to all of Randy's loved ones. I was a friend of his on the USS LaSalle. I have been trying to find him for years and when I saw his photo I knew it was Randy, and then realizing this is an obituary is very sad. Randy, who his friends on the ship called "Tag", was a serious goofball, in a good way. We had a lot of fun being goofballs together. It was harder to stay in touch in those days, so we lost touch after going our separate ways. I have no knowledge of why Randy got so sick at a fairly young age, but a lot of us Navy guys were exposed to environmental hazards without adequate protection or lax oversight. I just want his family to know that he had a lot of friends in the Navy and this one is disappointed that I didn't find him and reconnect while he was still with us.
