Rafael Mora Gutierrez

​Rafael Mora Gutierrez, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Rafael, named after the archangel, experienced so much of the 20th & 21st century from his generational village of Juan Lucas along the mountainside of rural Guanajuato, Mexico. He worked the fields with horses at a time before modernization, until he responded to the call from his neighboring Nation, the United States of America, to help in the World War II efforts. Rafael then returned to his native home to raise his family only to return to his adoptive home in the US, to live out the remainder of his life surrounded by loved ones. His love and compassion for family and others will live on for generations to come. As you woke every morning to put on your beloved sombrero and enjoyed your life with family and friends; may you now rest with the angels and the loved ones who have passed, in the kingdom of our Lord…riding your horses through the heavens. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cristina Gutierrez; father, Natividad Mora; sister, Lucia Mora; children, Nati and Estela; and his grandson, Juan Carlos Mora. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 76 years, Consuelo; sister, Maria; children, Lorenzo (Maria), Sara (Joel), Guadalupe (Antonia), Elia (Guadalupe), Teófanes (Silvia), and Graciela (Federico); 24 grandchildren and their spouses, 32 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Please join us as we honor Rafael’s life. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, January 8 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, with Deacon Carlos Gutierrez officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 11 am - 2 pm before services at the funeral home for visitation. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, on Monday, January 9 at 2 pm.

Rafael Mora Gutiérrez, de 94 años, falleció pacíficamente, rodeado de su familia el miércoles 4 de enero de 2023. Rafael, llamado así por el arcángel, vivió gran parte del siglo XX y XXI desde su pueblo natal de Juan Lucas en Guanajuato, México. Trabajó los campos con caballos en una época anterior a la modernización, hasta que respondió al llamado de su nación vecina, los Estados Unidos de América, para ayudar en los esfuerzos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Rafael luego regresó a su hogar natal para criar a su familia solo para regresar a su hogar adoptivo en los EE. UU., para vivir el resto de su vida rodeado de sus seres queridos. Su amor y compasión por la familia y los demás vivirán en las generaciones venideras. Como te despertabas todas las mañanas para ponerte tu amado sombrero y disfrutabas de tu vida con familiares y amigos; que ahora descanses con los ángeles y los seres queridos que han pasado, en el reino de nuestro Señor… montando tus caballos por los cielos. Le precedieron en la muerte su madre, Cristina Gutiérrez; padre, Natividad Mora; hermana, Lucía Mora; hijos, Nati y Estela; y su nieto, Juan Carlos Mora. Será recordado con cariño por su esposa durante 76 años, Consuelo; hermana, María; hijos, Lorenzo (María), Sara (Joel), Guadalupe (Antonia), Elia (Guadalupe), Teófanes (Silvia) y Graciela (Federico); 24 nietos y sus cónyuges, 32 bisnietos y dos tataranietos. Únase a nosotros para honrar la vida de Rafael. Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo a las 2 pm el domingo 8 de enero en Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, oficiando el diácono Carlos Gutiérrez. Los familiares y amigos pueden reunirse con la familia de 11 am a 2 pm antes de los servicios en la funeraria para recibir visitas.
