Pieternella “Petey” Faber

Pieternella “Petey” (nee Batts) Faber, age 80, of Wyoming, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2018, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Martin Batts and Melania Potratz Scherer; stepfather, Dr. Roland Scherer; brother, Francis Timothy Batts; stepsister, Julie Skillman; and stepbrother, Roland Scherer. She will be joyfully remembered by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth “Mick” Faber; children, Melania and Steve English, Stephanie and Bud Roerig, Rachel and Chad Versluis, Marc and Morgan Faber; grandchildren, Marisa Roerig, Rebecca and Scott Zandstra, Laura Roerig, Rachel Roerig, John Versluis, Eric Versluis, Jessie Versluis, Leah and Brandon Huizenga; brother, Dr. Martin and Reva Batts; sister-in-law, Jan Batts; stepbrother, David and MaryEllen Scherer; stepbrother-in-law, Allan Skillman; many nieces, nephews, and her extended family and friends. Petey was a graduate of Calvin College. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother known for her wisdom and wit, a talented artist with a love for travel. Every aspect of her life reflected her devotion to God. Petey was a lifelong member of LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at noon at LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Peter Jonker and Rev. John Steigenga officiating.  Interment will be held at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Henry Beets Mission Society at LaGrave Ave. Christian Reformed Church.
