Plas, Phyllis Jean Phyllis Jean Plas, age 89, of Grand Rapids, went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 29, 2012.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sadie Schuitema.  She attended Kentwood Community Church and enjoyed the Oasis Program on Wednesdays.  She was a hostess for Russ’s Restaurant on 28th St. in Grand Rapids for over 24 years.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Patricia (Robert) Goote and Jana (Vince) O’Brien; she will be fondly remembered as Grammie by her grandchildren, Sara (Mark) VandenBosch, Chad (Mardy) Goote, Gannon O’Brien, Maura O’Brien; great grandchildren, Cade and Camryn VandenBosch, Nora and Maxwell Goote; her sister, Marilyn (Neil) Lampen and brother, John (Lorraine) Schuitema; several nieces and nephews.  Phyllis also enjoyed a loving friendship with Frank “Bud” Stryker, a man of quiet integrity.  The family would like to thank the caring staffs of Oak Crest – Maplewood Manor of Jenison and Faith Hospice of West Michigan.  A private graveside service will be held on Friday afternoon at Grandville Cemetery.  A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
