Peggy Jean Skalandis

Peggy Jean Skalandis, of Jenison, age 76, went home to be with her Lord on January 17, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James, sister, Marian. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jacquelyn and David VanHouten, Debi Skalandis; grandchildren: Mike and Bob VanHouten, Alysa and Alexis Edgerle; sister, Frances Thill, Lorraine Skalandis; many nieces and nephews. She worked for over 32 years at Meijer in the floral dept. She enjoyed bowling and served on the board of the WIBC for many years. She also loved to play games with her grandchildren and watch “her boys” play softball. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Rev. Shawn Hulst officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

My Dearest Friend Miss Peggy, How we had our laughs! You have been an inspiration, a dear friend and the one who gave me the hope and courage especially during a very challenging time while I was recovering from a broken neck. Who would have known our walks would grow into such a great friendship. I was truly blessed and fortunate to have had you in my life! Our walks, we started out with just going down to the corner until I built up the strength to make it all the way to the park. We strolled along talking and laughing with my little dog Poppins who we pushed in her little stroller. We would say Poppins was just one of the girls..... Peggy, I so know you are with the Lord, for you are a good soul! But so am going to miss you! Your friend always, Michelle Rene' Taylor (the neighbor girl scout) : )
