Peg Sylvester, age 57, of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 7, 1958 at Mercy Hospital in Monroe Michigan. She began her career at the Westin in Chicago, followed by various other hotel/restaurant positions throughout the United States. She moved back to Michigan in 1992 to be closer to her family, and followed in her mother’s footsteps at Michigan National Bank, where she met Elisa. She was later recruited to Macatawa Bank as a Mortgage Lender, and West Michigan Community Bank. Throughout her career, Peg was passionate about serving others in work and in her community. She volunteered for many organizations, including building homes with Habitat for Humanity, teaching budgeting classes at the Holland Rescue Mission, and preparing taxes for low-income families through the Kent County Tax Coalition. Peg was a true friend and was loved by all. I'm so heart broken to hear of Peg's passing. I remember when she was this brand new Banker and I trained her. Within a very short time, she was my Boss. I was so proud of her and all her accomplishments. I also remember her first trip to Italy with Elisa and how much she loved it. Peg, you have always had a special place in my heart. You will be missed.

I knew Peg from the HBA. I always appreciated her involvement in our association. WE had an HBA Foundation event last October and actually thought I might see her there. Am so sorry to hear of her passing and pray for God's grace during this most difficult time.

Am anguished to hear of Peg's passing. She was my rock and refuge when we were teenagers in Adrian. She was a generous, loving, big hearted friend with a beautiful family. We are with you in your grief.

We knew Peg from 'Holly's By Golly' in Plymouth and she became a good friend. Discovered that both of us had gone to Ferris at the same time. She will be sorely missed.
