Pearl Willems

Pearl Agnes Willems, 94, of Findlay, Ohio, died on May 6, 2021. Pearl was born on June 25, 1926 to Rev. Dirk and Joanna (Miedema) Flietstra in Muskegon, Michigan. She graduated from Pella High School in Pella, Iowa. Pearl met Peter Willems and they were married by her father in Yakima, Washington, on July 6, 1948. When they had their first child, Pearl decided to dedicate herself to being a wonderful Christian mother and, wanting more children, she became a foster mom. In addition to her family, Pearl was passionate about studying the Bible, gardening, flower arranging, and art. Her church family at Bethel United Reformed Church in Jenison, Michigan, was very important to her.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Willems; her brothers, Clarence, Charles and Allen Flietstra; grandchildren, Clifford Corrette III and Jill Olthouse; and son-in-law, Jim Snoap.

She is survived by her sister, Juliana Flietstra Steensma, 98; sisters-in-law, Harriet DeBoer and Theresa Bishop; daughters, Terry Olthouse (Mark), Carla Corrette (Cliff), and Cheryl Snoap as well as grandchildren, Marcy Olthouse, Jodi Hubbard (Fr. Jeff), Will Olthouse, Mike (Margaret) Fennema, Jesse Corrette, Matt Corrette (Tracy), Heather (Bradey) Waters and Justin Hollenbeck along with many great-grandchildren. We will all miss her greatly.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Bethel United Reformed Church, 8380 Cottonwood Drive, Jenison, Michigan, with Rev. Steve Postma officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the church. The service will also be viewable online at https://www.betheljenison.com/watch/.

Burial has taken place at Garfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Reformed Church.
