Paul Hendriksen

February 28, 1945 ~
June 28, 2022

Paul William Hendriksen, age 77, formerly of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Paul was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, graduating from Kalamazoo Christian High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Paul was a kind and fun-loving husband, dad, grandpa, and brother who had a contagious smile and always had a positive attitude. He was blessed with the gift of conversation, leading him to a successful career in food brokering. Paul possessed great leadership skills, using this gift to serve his Lord and his church as elder and deacon, Jenison Christian and Unity Christian School Board, and on various other committees. He and his wife, Lois, were foster parents, opening their home to many children and teenagers. Blessing them with a loving home environment, they were able to share the love of Jesus and adopt Joe and Jenni into their family. Over the years, many memories were made with family and friends camping, Sunday night games of Aggravation and cards, and many miles of traveling all over the world. Many winters were spent in Sun City, Arizona, and summers at Sandy Pines Resort, establishing many lifelong friendships during that time. Above all, his legacy of faith and love for his family will be forever remembered. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Lois Hendriksen; his children, Tim and Dawn Hendriksen, Mike Hendriksen and Yolanda Barcenas, Dave and Sue Hendriksen, Joe Hendriksen, Jennifer Hendriksen; grandchildren, Drew and Abigail, Sarah, Justin, Micah, Grace, Nate and fiancée, Kate, Madelyn, Aaron, Joey, Makayla, and Jorden; siblings, Jeanne and Aaron Middleton, Kathleen and Jerry Westergaard, Sue and Joe Carr; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Achterhof, Jim and Carol Achterhof, Judy Achterhof, Paul and Marge Achterhof, Ruth and Dave Miedema, Barb Achterhof, Myra and Randy Reimink, Bill and Hollie Achterhof; many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Drive, Jenison, with Rev. Matt Palsrok officiating. The burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to World Renew.

The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via www.cottonwoodcrc.com/hendriksen.
