Patricia Sturgis

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Patricia Ann Sturgis of Lowell, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Patricia was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Quentin A. DeBoer and Julia L. (Lowing) DeBoer on December 20, 1940. Patricia was known to be a great prayer warrior. She was also an entrepreneur and someone who loved to create things. Through her business “Custom Creations,” she made wedding gowns, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses, wedding cakes, and costumes.  She loved flowers, received her Master Gardner’s certification, and was part of many community groups. Her love of books led her to be part of the “Friends of the Lowell Public Library” organization for many years. She was active in many community organizations and in her women’s group at New Community Church in Grand Rapids. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Purcell in 2004; grandson, Ricky Sturgis in 2007; and her husband, Richard Sturgis Sr. in 2011.  She is survived by her children, Marci and Thomas McCoy, Terri Yates, Richard Sturgis Jr., Tricia and Shane Pulley; grandchildren, Joshua McCoy, Jaime McCoy, Axel and Meghann Yates, Cody Sturgis, Tyler Sturgis, Samantha Sturgis, Tabatha Sturgis, Grady Pulley, Evan Pulley, Jill Pulley, Daynen Pulley, and Vaughn Pulley, Timothy Purcell, Elizabeth and Ben Ward, Estaban Leon Purcell; great-grandson Max Ward. Patricia was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that will be missed very much for her sewing and gardening wisdom! A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020, at Grandville Cemetery.  There will be a Celebration of Life gathering later in the year for extended family and friends.
