March 21, 2023

Patricia “Pat” Ann Reister, age 94, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Pat was a kind and loving mom, grandma and great-grandma who was blessed with an independent spirit and deep love for her family. She retired as a Registered Nurse from Grand Valley State University after 25 years of faithful service. Over the years, Pat enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, visiting many places all over the country. She volunteered her time and talents serving at Love, INC. in Allendale. Pat enjoyed knitting, selling peaches at her home (where she became affectionately known as the “peach lady”), and baking, making the most delicious cinnamon rolls! Above all, her love for her Lord and her care for others was evident to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Vernon. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rita Reister, Deb and Marty Urbanski, Rick and Cindy Reister; five grandchildren, Christina Fenske (Douglass), Chad Fenske (Cheryl), Angela and Mark Calabrese, Lyndsee Reister, Allyson and Garret Klingenberg; great-grandson, Elton Klingenberg; siblings, Tom and Lois Hoekstra, Marion Hoekstra; several loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at New Hope Lutheran Church, 3232 Port Sheldon St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Adam Kosberg officiating. A time of fellowship and reception will be held immediately following the service. Burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be given to New Hope Lutheran Church or the Epilepsy Foundation.

Dear Reister family, We really enjoyed your dear mother and grandmother so much! She was always best friends with our mom, Alice Knott and after mom died we kept having your mom for many holidays. She would play scrabble with me and often beat me at it! We are praying for you all as she will be sorely missed we’re sure! May God uphold and comfort you!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Pat at Grand Valley State many years ago when I was a student. I remember her as a kind and caring person.
